The land behind Bush-N-Vine Farm has been in the Hall family for over 150 years. It started as a peach orchard. The building on it was a peach packing shed in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1979, Bob Hall reopened it as an open-air market, and the family has grown fruits and vegetables there ever since.
Bob graduated from Clemson in 1980 and made farming his career. His son, Sam Hall, joined full-time in 2010. Today the farm sells from three stands: its home farm in York, a market on Ebenezer Rd in Rock Hill, and a seasonal stand in Lake Wylie.
The stands carry what the farm grows, depending on the season: tomatoes, melons, peaches, blueberries, blackberries, corn, greens, squash, okra and pecans. The farm also sells honey, preserves and pickles, and offers a CSA with weekly boxes in four sizes. The York farm has U-Pick for strawberries, blueberries, peaches, blackberries, tomatoes and pumpkins, and reviewers describe picking strawberries as a family outing.
The Rock Hill stand is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., April through September.
Home farm: 1650 Filbert Hwy, York, SC 29745.
