Three of every four plants at Wilson's Nursery & Garden Center were grown by Wilson's. Plenty of garden centers sell whatever a truck delivers, but this one starts its own.
James Wilson opened it in 1952 as an open-air market in Rock Hill, SC. It has since grown into a complex of 23 greenhouses on more than ten acres, and generations of the Wilson family still work in the business. Growing most of their own plants is how the nursery says it keeps prices low, and it invites you to compare.
The benches cover the basics and then some: trees, shrubs, perennials, annuals, and houseplants, plus concrete, pottery, and flags for the yard. The service is meant to feel personal, with customers treated like part of the family, seven days a week. The Herald's Buzzy Awards have named it the area's best garden center 17 years in a row, by the nursery's own count.
925 W Main St, Rock Hill. Open Monday through Saturday 8 to 6, and Sunday 1 to 5.
Grown by the family since 1952.
