Biggs Camera

Yes, they still develop film.

Biggs Camera has been doing it since 1959, when Neil Biggs, a photographer, printer, and graphic designer who worked for Esso, opened Hi-Fi Camera Center in Charlottetown Mall. When the mall began to decline in the late '80s, the store became Biggs Camera and moved to 805 South Kings Drive, where Neil and Steve Biggs stood out front for the 1988 grand opening. Camera World, Charlotte Camera, and Wolf Camera outposts all over town were the competition back then. Biggs is still on South Kings Drive.

It's a camera store that covers everything around the camera, too. Cameras, lenses, and gear from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, and more, plus rentals, used equipment, and a way to sell your own. Prints, passport photos, scanning, and film development for the analog crowd. Memory card recovery for the moment something goes wrong. General manager Troy Tomlinson has worked here since 1992.

Family-owned, in the same Charlotte spot since 1988, and one of the few shops in its trade to outlast the industry's biggest changes.

Nearly seven decades. Still developing film.
