Brick & Mortar Coffee and Mercantile sits in one of the original buildings on N Main St in downtown Clover, SC. During the remodel, the walls came down and the old brick and mortar showed through. The restored brick is now the focal point of the room, and the shop took its name from it.
The shop opened Dec. 2, 2023. Margaret Smith, a Clover native, manages it and developed the concept with her cousin Chris Ferguson, a contractor. They wanted a place where people in the area could enjoy good coffee and meet friends and family downtown.
On the menu are lattes, cappuccinos, espresso and drip coffee, made with a Peruvian medium roast from Pure Intentions Coffee in Charlotte. Food includes sandwiches, soups, paninis, pastries and desserts. Upstairs is a lounge, and there is Wi-Fi for anyone working from the shop.
In Clover, this is a place built for staying, not just grabbing a cup. Bring someone, or a laptop, and take the upstairs seat.
