The Clover Station opened in July 2009 at 105 N Main St in Clover, SC, with a plan to serve homestyle Southern food and bring people together. Ms. Pat, known around town as “The Fried Okra Lady,” founded it. She raised three children on the home cooking served there, and she still works in the kitchen and greets customers.
The menu is Southern comfort food made the old way. There is fried chicken, collard greens and fried okra, plus buttermilk biscuits and cornbread made from scratch. Daily specials rotate alongside the standards. Reviewers mention meatloaf, pineapple casserole and tomato pie. The restaurant was voted Best Southern and Soul Food Restaurant for 2025.
The name has a story behind it. Clover was first called Clover Patch, a stop that served the steam engines of the Chester and Lenoir Narrow Gauge Railroad. Local lore says water spilling from the engines made clover sprout beside the tracks. The restaurant draws on that story.
Open Tuesday through Friday for lunch and dinner and Sunday for lunch. Come hungry, and ask Ms. Pat what’s fresh.
