Flora Coffee in Rock Hill, SC started with three coworkers who bonded over plants, coffee and a shared appreciation for beautiful things. Colleen Fleming, Alyssa Lehnert and Jillian Snider turned that into a business, and their first brick-and-mortar cafe is at 221 Cherry Rd.
Each founder brings coffee experience. Lehnert grew up in her family’s specialty coffee shop. Fleming left a corporate job in 2021 and worked at cafes around Charlotte. Snider has worked in coffee since college as a barista, head roaster and coffee educator, and she owns the Queen City Coffee Crawl. Before the cafe, the team served coffee at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market, and they also run a small coffee cart.
The shop is a specialty coffee shop that sells more than coffee. The menu covers espresso drinks, hot and cold coffee, chai, matcha and tea, with house-made baked goods and other food. Shelves carry houseplants and lifestyle goods, so you can leave with a latte and a pathos.
For Rock Hill, it’s a new place to get a well-made drink from people who have spent years learning the trade. Stop in, have a coffee, and take a plant home.
