William Black settled this land in 1715. Three hundred years and six generations later, his family is still farming it — and for the last century, selling what they grow right off Highway 5.
The retail store opened in 1923. Beth Black White took over managing the farm and store in 1998, and turned it into something bigger: a restaurant serving lunch made from their own produce and grass-fed beef, pick-your-own strawberries, field trips for local schools. Her father Arthur's still out on the tractor most days. Her brothers show up after their own jobs to help customers carry groceries. This isn't a business with employees standing in for family — it mostly just is family.
They don't do it alone, either. Some of what's on the shelves comes from partner farms nearby — including Lincoln Road Farms, right up the road in York.
Three hundred years a family farm. A hundred years a retail one. Still going.
